A CHARTER ORDINANCE

RELATING TO THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE OFFICES OF THE VILLAGE CLERK AND VILLAGE TREASURER

The Village Board of the Village of Strum, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin do ordain as follows:

Section 1. From and after the effective date of this ordinance the offices of the Village Clerk and Village Treasurer shall be held by the same person. The Village Board may from time to time hereafter add to the duties of said office, such duties with respect to the operation and administration of water and sewer facilities in the Village of Strum, as shall from time to time seem proper and shall specify compensation therefore.

Section 2. Said Clerk-Treasurer shall be appointed by the Village Board Sixty (60) days from the passage of this ordinance, and shall hold office up to and including 30th day of April of 1955. From and after May 1, 1955, the clerk-treasurer shall be appointed by the Village Board and shall hold office for a term of two years or until his respective successor shall be appointed and qualified. Such clerk-treasurer shall assume and carry out all the present duties of the Village Clerk and of the Village Treasuror as well as such other and further duties with reference to the operation of and administration of the water and sewer facilities in the Village of Strum as shall be assigned to him from time to time.

Section 3. This charter ordinance amends and revises the application of the following sections of the Wisconsin Statutes of 1953 to the Village of Strum; Sec. 61.19; 61.26, 61.25; and is in compliance with Sec 61.195; 61.197; 61.23; 61.25; and 61.26 and pursuant to Sec. 66.01.

Section 4. This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect sixty date after its passage and publication or posting, unless within such sixty days a referendum petition shall be filed as provided by Sec. 66.01 of the Wisconsin Statutes, in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until submitted to a referendum and approved by majority of the electors voting thereon.
