§ 26-61. Snowmobile routes and trails designated.

  • (a)

    Routes designated. Except as provided in Wis. Stats. §§ 350.02 and 350.045, or for snowmobile events authorized in accordance with Wis. Stats. § 350.04, no person shall operate a snowmobile upon any public right-of-way, in any public park, or on any other public municipal property in the village except upon snowmobile routes and trails designated by the village board as follows:

    (1)

    Fourth Avenue South from Pine Street to Maple Street;

    (2)

    Maple Street from Fourth Avenue South to Third Avenue South;

    (3)

    Third Avenue North, from Elm Street to the Buffalo River Trail;

    (4)

    East Walnut Street from Fourth Avenue South to First Avenue South;

    (5)

    Eighth Avenue South from West Fir Street to West Hawthorne Street;

    (6)

    From the Buffalo River Trail at Birch Street to Seventh Avenue North;

    (7)

    Seventh Avenue North, from Birch Street to Oak Street;

    (8)

    Oak Street, from Seventh Avenue North to Fifth Avenue North;

    (9)

    Veterans Drive from Crystal Lake Drive to Woodland Drive;

    (10)

    Woodland Drive from Veterans Drive to Fifth Avenue North; and

    (11)

    Fifth Avenue North from Woodland Drive to Highway 10.

    (b)

    Trail markers. The chief of police is directed and authorized to procure, erect and maintain appropriate snowmobile route, trail and limit signs and markers as approved by the state department of natural resources under Wis. Stats. § 350.13. The chief of police shall have the power to declare the stated snowmobile routes and trails either open or closed.

    (c)

    Markers to be obeyed. No person shall fail to obey any route or trail sign, marker or similar erected in accordance with this section.

    (d)

    Trails designated. All snowmobiles shall use the following designated snowmobile route to reach the South and East (Club House) snowmobile trails at the Baseball Park.

    (1)

    All resident snowmobilers residing south of the Buffalo River State Trail shall use Walnut Street to the Baseball Park (use shortest route of North-South streets to reach Walnut Street, except Fifth Avenue).

    (2)

    All resident snowmobilers residing north of the Buffalo River State Trail shall use the shortest route to Third Avenue to Baseball Park, or, only when lake crossing is unsafe, Elm Street and Oak Street to Fifth Avenue to Woodlawn Drive to Recreation Area.
