§ 12-48. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Destroy means the complete killing of weeds or the killing of weed plants above the surface of the ground by the use of chemicals, cutting, tillage, cropping system, pasturing livestock, or any or all of these in effective combination, at a time and in a manner as will effectually prevent the weed plants from maturing to the bloom or flower stage.

    Noxious weed means Canada thistle, leafy spurge and field bindweed (creeping Jenny) and any other weed the village board may by ordinance or resolution declare to be noxious within its boundaries.
